Busia outcome 1

Multisectoral, multi-stakeholder food systems platforms that combine a diverse range of expertise from the agricultural, food, education and health sectors, as well as from private sector, civil society and academia, are taxed as game changers and key instruments for promoting food systems transformation and innovation across food value chains. In Busia, the multi-sectoral, multi-organizational County Technical Nutrition Forum convenes on a quarterly base to coordinate nutrition activities by harmonizing broad workplans, assessing and monitoring nutrition indicators and assisting city’s nutrition budgeting process. The Busia County Technical Nutrition Forum should be made familiar with the food systems concept in order to take on important tasks regarding i) advocating for healthy local food supply, ii) supporting the implementation of demand generation activities, iii) engaging in nutrition planning for greater efficiency including respective resourcing, and iv) involving women and youth in decision-making around more sustainable food systems.
