The cities are well engaged in Rwanda and have met actively for the selection of the value chains, and to plan in a participatory way with the district. There is also involvement of women’s associations, youth groups and small and medium enterprises and local businesses.
There have been inter-city exchanges on the NICE baseline data to see which insights it gives about the situation of the city population that the project may seek to respond to. The formative research into consumers and a farmer’s survey are both ongoing and the initial findings will also be presented to the cities for further discussion and validation.
Together with the cities a policy assessment is being carried out to facilitate that NICE may see where to focus its resources in terms of its potential policy influence.
