World Food Day, celebrated annually on October 16, marks a global effort to tackle hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity. On the occasion of this day, NICE Rangpur has celebrated on 31 October. NICE brought together government officials, farmers, students, teachers, parents, women, and youths to foster awareness and encourage action toward a future where everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.
The day started with a rally with government officials, students, teachers, Farmers’ Hub owners, women and youth group members. Joysree Rani Roy, Secretary and Acting Chief Executive Officer & NICE focal person of Rangpur City Corporation inaugurated the program.
16 stalls showcased NICE project activities, demonstrated agroecological practices, featured the NICE Nutrition Farmers’ Hub, network management, and represented various schools. The event showcased our innovative NICE vegetable-covered vans, mobile vegetable carts, and street food carts, all dedicated to promoting nutritious food access. We wrapped up the day with an inspiring prize-giving ceremony that celebrated the exceptional accomplishments of our students in various competitions—including a nutrition quiz, memory game, creative dress-up, drawings, and essay writing—organized by NICE. Their enthusiasm and talent truly highlight the importance of nutrition and health in our communities! Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the Girl Guides and all participants, underscoring our collective efforts. This occasion was a powerful reminder of our global commitment to building sustainable food systems and ensuring that everyone has access to sufficient, healthy food.
