23–29 April 2026 | Dinajpur & Rangpur
No lectures this time! But students drawing, writing, and quizzing to better understand what is good nutrition.
The Nutrition in City Ecosystems (NICE) Project, together with the Civil Surgeon Offices of Dinajpur and Rangpur, turned National Nutrition Week into a youth‑led event. In seven days, hundreds of school children participated in art, essay, and quiz competitions – all focused on healthy food, food safety, and balanced diets.

Local leaders supporting the NICE Nutrition Week
The presence of top district health officials gave the week genuine weight!
In Rangpur, the Chief Guest was Dr. Shahin Sultana, Civil Surgeon. She was joined by Mr. Mahinur Mahin (Medical Officer) and Samima Sultan Moon (Senior Health Officer). Their active engagement: interacting with students, watching the quiz finals, and handing out prizes shows how nutrition is a government priority as well, not just a project activity.

In Dinajpur, Dr. Md. Asif Ferdous, Civil Surgeon, led the ceremony alongside Md. Saiful Islam (Senior Health Education Officer), Md. Tarifur Rahman Sarkar (District Fisheries Officer), and Md. Morshed Ali Khan (Deputy Director, Department of Women’s Affairs).
Md. Morshed Ali Khan walked through the art exhibition and paused.
“These children are showing us what they are not learning in class. Nutrition is barely in the curriculum. That means programs like this must not be special events- they must become the norm at every school.”
Sadia Afreen Shefa, District Information Officer, added a practical commitment:
“We already organized yard meetings where food safety officers act as resource persons. After seeing the energy here, we want to scale this same model into more schools so children learn early to stay away from ultra‑processed foods.”

The closing
The week took place at the Shikkhangon High School (Rangpur) and Abdul Jabbar Auditorium of the General Hospital (Dinajpur). 33 students received prizes – 15 from Rangpur, 18 from Dinajpur – across art, essay, and quiz categories. During the joint Prize‑Giving and Closing Ceremony, the Civil Surgeon Offices publicly thanked the NICE Project for its “active participation and continuous support” in organising the week‑long activities.
